I've always thought it a little funny to write a review of a church online because it is such a personal experience, but I feel like I need to say that through Awaken, God has been transforming me. I am so proud of this church for reopening during the ridiculous shutdowns of 2020/2021 and breathing life into people every week despite the demands not to! Great leadership and a wonderful family atmosphere are what you will find!
Awaken has changed my life for the better. Since coming here 5 years ago my relationship with God has deepened, my friendships have flourished, my job/finances have increased, and I am learning to walk in the power and authority given to me as a believer of Jesus Christ. Awaken is one of the biggest reasons that I want to stay planted in San Diego. I couldn’t ask for more from a church. They help disciple you, and if you allow yourself to be “all in” you WILL experience radical change!!!! They are FUN & HOLY and I’m here for it! So Thankful and Blessed by this incredible ministry.
I would say Awaken church is The BEST in every way. I was so touched by faith filled message and the anointing prayer by pastors. People are so alive and joyful. Definitely the Holy Spirit filled and the gospel centered church. There's the presence of the resurrecting King Jesus.
Oh my stars! Pastor Mike & Pastor Yurgin are the best! I've been going here for almost 2 months now and I have fallen in love with this church! They are majorly spirit-filled, and I just love worshiping Jesus with them! The only downside is that being a Democrat might be a problem with them because they're Republicans. But I'm open-minded with all, so it's ok. I'm not offended. So long as it all aligns with God's Word.
Not one to bash on a church, but if you want an intimate worship Holy Spirit experience, this is definitely not the place for that. Picked Christmas eve to try it out for the first time with the wife and kids, was highly disappointed.I get that kids are going to talk during service and worship, but the problem was the parents socializing during what's supposed to be worship. Not quiet socializing, but full on HEY GIRL HOW YOU BEEN, WHATCHA BEEN UP TO socializing, and because the music was loud, they had to speak even louder. It was chaotic to say the least, definitely not a good first impression and not respectful to people trying worship God. Worship is supposed to be the most intimate part of church, not time to get settled in and say hi to everyone you know.
